Seido is one of the newer Japanese Aikido-related brands that, just like many other brands, is established in Tokyo. Seido was founded in 2010 by the Frenchman Jordy Delage and his Japanese wife Eriko Hoshi. Seido mainly sells its items outside of Japan, and mostly in France. In just a few years, it has grown to a company with 7 employees and it has shipped over 20.000 orders.
Seido feels strongly about quality, which you can see in all products. For the Aikido Hakama, it works with traditional workshops and it selects fabrics itself. It obtains wooden weapons from selected workshops in Kyushu, and the Aikido suits are made by specialists only, mostly by hand.
100% made in Japan
As quality is so important to Seido, it has decided on “made in Japan a 100%.” Many other budo brands increasingly choose China, Bangladesh or other low-wage countries, but Seido chooses Japan. Because it is made in Japan, it can guarantee the quality of both product and production. With many budo items, it is unclear where the products are made and of what materials. Have they been made by children or poor people under terrible circumstances? Have dangerous substances, left after bleaching cotton, been handled properly? With Seido, you know that you have high-quality items produced by experts in a sustainable way.
Seido is the only company in the world that collaborates with the last four traditional workshops in Japan. Seido has a strict selection policy and delivers only the best bokken. Aikipro.eu delivers the standard version and the Deluxe version. We have deliberately chosen (Japanese) white oak named Shirakashi (Quercus acutissima). This tree grows in the South of Japan (Kyushu, Shikoku), and requires moist soil and much sunlight. Unlike European oak, this type of wood is harder, which makes it ideal for use in bokken.
Aikipro and Seido
Since the start of Aikipro at the end of 2015, we have been selling Seido items, which are very popular in The Netherlands. Aikipro is official reseller and can deliver all Seido items that Seido delivers itself. Ordering Seido items at Aikipro means fast service, easy payments (Bancontact, Creditcard, Sofort, PayPal, etc.), and no import or customs costs.
